The Bivy was set up by Singaporean climbers, Kelly and her ex-partner in 2015. Enchanted by the simple lifestyle in a small fishing village, and a close proximity to Long Dong, The Bivy was set up in Bitoujiao Village (鼻頭角).
The Bivy is now solely owned and run by Kelly. She is the only resident climbing guide and instructor who organizes and runs customized rock climbing trips and clinics in Taiwan all year round. She runs international rock climbing trips in Asia as well.
In April 2025, Kelly passed her Rock Guide Exam at Red Rocks, Las Vegas and became an AMGA Certified Rock Guide. She is the only female AMGA Rock Guide based in Asia. Kelly is also an AMGA Certified SPI (Single Pitch Instructor) and a Wilderness First Responder (WFR).
Our Purpose
The Bivy provides guided rock climbing trips and climbing clinics catered to beginner to experienced climbers. It also serves as a base for climbers to seek beta on climbing and getting around Long Dong.
In 2019, Kelly ran her first all-women climbing event in Taiwan, the Women’s Climbing Clinics (WCCs) to promote women participation in rock climbing and to encourage women empowerment and support through rock climbing.
With more than 20 years of climbing experience from competitive climbing to traditional and multipitch climbing and the love for the outdoors, Kelly hopes to help folks achieve their rock climbing goals. She strives to create a safe space especially for women and the LGBTQ+ community to enjoy rock climbing.
